DCE Client Configuration
Time on server: 1995-12-04-14:06:55.602-08:00I0.101
Do you wish to sync the clock of this machine? (y)
where the value shown in parentheses is the default response if you press
Return.
Enter y if you want to synchronize the clocks. If you answer y, dce_config
sets the time on the client machine.
13. In response to the prompt, enter the cell_admin principal name and password.
Security principals for the new client machine are then added and the dced demon
is started. This step requires both the master security server and the CDS server to
be running. Upon successful completion, the machine is a security client.
The next phase is CDS client initialization. First, CDS principals are added to the
security registry database and the cdsclerk and cdsadv demons are started.
Next, dce_config issues this prompt:
What is the name of a CDS server in this cell
(if there is more than one, enter the name of
the server to be cached if necessary)?
14. Enter the name of the machine on which the initial CDS server is configured. If you
do not know this name, enter one of these commands from an OSS shell prompt
on any configured machine within the cell:
The command output indicates the IP address of the master CDS server, which
you can use to locate the system name in the Guardian hosts file,
$SYSTEM.ZTCPIP.HOSTS.
This prompt appears:
Create LAN profile so clients and servers can be divided
into profile groups for higher performance in a multi-lan
cell? (n)
15. Enter y or n, as appropriate. The value shown in parentheses is the default
response if you press Return.
dce_config issues a cdscp define cached server command, which
enables the CDS client machine to access the CDS namespace.
A directory for this machine and three subordinate objects are added to the CDS
/.:/hosts directory. ACL security permissions are set for the new namespace
entries.
Finally, dce_config prompts for the machine DTS status:
Should this machine be configured as a DTS clerk,
DTS Local Server, or DTS Global Server?
