Migrating From the D31 Product Version
•
TCP/IP configuration
Beginning with the D30.00 RVU, the standard version of NonStop TCP/IP uses the
QIO subsystem. This default TCP/IP configuration supports 100 sockets. If your
site needs a larger configuration, you must reconfigure NonStop TCP/IP and the
QIO subsystem to provide additional memory. Refer to the QIO Configuration and
Management Manual for details.
Migrating From the D31 Product Version
Beginning with the D48 product version, two or more NonStop DCE virtual hosts can
coexist within a NonStop DCE cell on a NonStop node. Multiple virtual hosts with
different product versions can coexist within a DCE cell on the same NonStop node.
However, a DCE virtual host cannot coexist on a NonStop node with a NonStop DCE
cell of a version that does not support virtual hosts.
When multiple virtual hosts coexist on a NonStop node, only one set of NonStop DCE
include files exists in the OSS /usr/include/dce directory. That set is the result
of the most recent installation of the ADE. If the virtual hosts do not have the same
product versions, applications using an earlier-version virtual host might not function
correctly when recompiled.
It is not possible to fall back to a D31 product version from a D48 product version or a
G06 product version.
Retaining an Existing Configuration
You can install a product version of NonStop DCE that supports virtual hosts on a
NonStop system that runs the D31 product version while retaining the existing
configuration. To make the existing configuration the first virtual host on the system:
1. Make sure that all NonStop DCE processes are shut down.
2. Perform Step 1 through Step 13 of the procedure under Partial Installation or
Upgrade on page 3-8.
The existing configuration files become these virtual host files (hostname is the virtual
hostname assigned during installation):
•
The dce_config logs are created in /tmp/dce_config.hostname.log.
•
The directory /opt/dcelocal is symbolically linked to the directory
/opt/dcelocal.hostname.
•
Host keytab files in the directory /krb5 are copied to the directory
/opt/dcelocal.hostname/krb5.
•
The DCE startup script /etc/rc.dce is upgraded and stored as
/etc/rc.dce.hostname.
•
If a TNS virtual host is being installed, the file /usr/lib/libdcehostname.so
is created and then copied to /usr/lib/libdce.so. If /usr/lib/libdce.so
