The Environment File
The environment file assigns values to the DCE environment variables. The file
entries are in the form:
variable=value
A sample command file, config.env, is provided by HP with the DCE
distribution. You can copy the file and use it as supplied, or you can use it as a
guide to create your own environment file. The sample file is copied to
/opt/dcelocal.hostname/usr/examples/dce_config during DCE installation.
The DCE Environment Variables
The following table lists the DCE environment variables you can set for
dce_config processing. In the table, the term “default” refers to the value
assigned to the variable by HP.
Table B-1. dce_config Environment Variables (page 1 of 9)
Variable Value
CACHE_CDS_SERVER Specifies the name of the CDS server to cache.
The cached server is not required to be the initial
CDS server. Used during CDS client configuration.
CACHE_CDS_SERVER_IP Specifies the IP address of the CDS server to
cache.
CDS_ADVERTISEMENTS Controls the behavior of the CDS advertiser.
The value y indicates the CDS advertiser should
send and receive advertisements; n indicates it
should not.
When this variable has the value n, the CDS
advertiser is started with the -s switch, meaning the
server will not send or receive advertisements.
The default value is y.
CDSD_DATABASE_DIR Specifies the location of the CDS database files,
which is a Guardian subvolume holding the
NonStop SQL/MP tables. This is a Guardian
subvolume name, expressed in OSS pathname
format; for example, /G/volume/subvol.
CELL_ADMIN Specifies the principal name of the initial privileged
user of the registry database (known as the
“registry creator”). Used during security server
configuration.
CELL_ADMIN_PW Specifies the default password assigned to the
accounts created when the registry database is
created, including the account for the registry
creator.
The default value is -dce-.
