INITIALIZE DNS The INITIALIZE DNS command initializes a DNS configuration. Section 3 explains
the initialization procedure.
INITIALIZE [ DNS ] [ AT \
system
] [!] [ , DNSCONFONLY ]
[ DNSCONF
file name
]
DNS
may be omitted if the default object is DNS.
\
system
is the name of the system where DNS is to be initialized. If omitted, the system
specified by the last CMDVOL command is assumed.
file name
must be the name of a disk file (the file need not exist). The configuration file
created is determined by expanding
file name
using the current CMDSYS and
CMDVOL settings.
!
indicates that this is a reinitialization of DNS. The current database files, if any,
are to be purged.
DNSCONFONLY
indicates that only the configuration file is to be initialized. This option is useful in
the event that the DNS configuration file is lost or damaged. If used in
conjunction with the exclamation point (!), only the DNS configuration file, if any,
is purged.
Examples
INITIALIZE DNS AT \MADRID !
INITIALIZE DNSCONF $DATA2.MYDNS.CONFIG, DNSCONFONLY
Considerations
If neither AT \
system
nor DNSCONF
file name
is entered, the configuration file
created is determined by the current configuration file as follows:
If the current configuration file is in network form, the system in the current
configuration file name is used.
If the current configuration file is in local format, the system specified by the
last CMDSYS command is used.
