START DNS The START DNS command creates the DNS processes.
START [ DNS ] [ ON \
system
]
[ USING
config file
]
DNS
may be omitted if the default object is DNS.
\
system
is a Guardian 90 system name. When specified, indicates the node where DNS is
to be started. The name of the configuration file used to start DNS is formed by
applying \
system
to the current configuration file. If omitted, the system
specified by the last CMDSYS or SYSTEM command is assumed.
config file
is the name an existing configuration file from which DNS is to be started. If
partially qualified,
config file
is expanded using the current CMDSYS and
CMDVOL settings.
Considerations
If neither ON \
system
nor USING
config file
is specified, then one of the
following occurs:
If the current configuration file is in network format, DNS is started at the
system specified by the current configuration file.
DNS is started at the system specified by the last CMDSYS command.
If the process name of the name manager is other than $ZDNS, and the START is
successful, DNSCOM responds with:
Name Manager
process name
Started
Otherwise, DNSCOM responds with:
DNS [ AT \
system
] Started
The START DNS command fails with a warning message if DNS is already
running, or if a STOP DNS command is in progress.
