Specific Characteristics for COMPOSITETYPE Names
Names selected for composite types must have the following characteristics:
Start with a letter and be composed of alphanumeric characters. Embedded dash
characters (-) can be used as separators.
Be no more than 16 characters long.
Be unique in each DNS database which they are defined.
Defining Alias Type Names When you define an alias, you can optionally assign it a type, which makes it a typed
alias. An alias type (ALIASTYPE) is used to distinguish the related alias from other
aliases that refer to the same object. Aliastype names must be define before you begin
defining aliases.
As an example, if you want to define the telephone company circuit number as an alias
for a communication line, an appropriate alias type name might be CIRCUIT. An alias
type can have as an attribute the name of the company that defined the alias type and
the other attributes that you list. Figure 4-9 displays the dependencies and
relationships of alias type name definitions.
