This manual replaces the Tandem DNS material in the Distributed Name Service (DNS)
Manual, which was published for the C00 release. That manual has been divided into
separate manuals for the command interface and management programming interface
to DNS. For more information about the command interface to Tandem DNS, refer to
the Distributed Name Service (DNS) Management Operations Manual.
This manual describes the following changes and enhancements to the management
programming interface to Tandem DNS:
Multiple configuration support is added. DNS now supports multiple active DNS
configurations simultaneously.
Name export control and management are enhanced. To better control export
pacing, two DNS attributes are added: EXPORTDELAY and MAXEXPORTS. To
enable, disable, and monitor name exporting, the following DNS programmatic
commands are added: ENABLE EXPORT, DISABLE EXPORT, and STATUS
SYSTEM.
In addition, the following topics are included in this manual:
The introduction to the DNS management programming interface and the DNS
architecture is expanded.
A detailed discussion of definitions common to the DSM interfaces to DNS are
added.
An introduction to the DNS commands are added.
A DNS programming example for the C programming language is added.
An Event Management Service (EMS) supplement for the Guardian 90 D-series
operating systems is included.
