You have the following software components to run a Name Server:
DNS 9.2.3 name daemon
Valid configuration file (named.conf)
Zone files
II. Start DNS 9.2.3
Start DNS 9.2.3 with default options, which is the simplest way of starting the named
process. The zone files are automatically loaded from the location specified in the
named.conf file, which is looked up by default in /etc. Since the named.conf file is
located in the /etc/dns923 directory, you must use the -c option in conjunction with the
named command.

The DNS 9.2.3 server (named process) can be stopped in two ways:
Using the tool rndc (see rndc (remote name daemon control) on page 2-3)
Using the OSS kill command
Signals such as SIGINT and SIGTERM can be passed to the named process using
the kill command, causing named to be stopped.
1. Enter the following command to obtain the process ID for the named process:
/etc/dns923>named -c /etc/dns923/named.conf
/etc/dns923>ps | more
/etc/dns923>ps | more
