Copying HP Files
HP DDL Definition Files
The DDL definition files are in subvolume $vol.ZSPIDEF. $vol, the volume on which
the ZSPIDEF ISV was installed, depends on your site. By default, $vol is the volume
to which the SUT was restored.
The file names of DDL definition files are given by $vol.ZSPIDEF.ZxxxDDL. xxx is
the three-letter abbreviation for the application; for example, COM, EMS, or SPI.
Copying HP Files
As a backup procedure, make copies of the original template object files and retain
these copies. In addition, make copies of any DDL definition files and template source
files to be changed. Then change the copied files to suit your needs.
Ordering Modified Files
The order of the file names in file lists for TEMPLI or SYSGENR is important for
modified templates. You must place the file names of template object files with
modified templates after the file names (or installation descriptor) that represent the
original templates because the last template with a given key replaces the others with
that key.
Managing Templates on Network Nodes
In some cases, nodes (systems) on a network must share events with other nodes. In
these cases, coordinate the templates of the nodes, so each node can create operator
messages about other nodes’ events and use the same override templates. This is
particularly important if the nodes do not have the same subsystems and management
applications installed because a node would not have templates for events from
applications not present on the system.
Three possible scenarios for nodes on a network are (see Figure 6-1
on page 6-6):
Before You Use These Procedures
These procedures are designed to be used when:
•
New software is installed.
•
Nodes use the same versions of software.
•
Nodes use the same override templates.
