8 BACKUP Errors
This section lists BACKUP errors and their text descriptions. These errors appear as
the value of
error-num
and
error-text
in the BACKUP and Tape Reader Event
Management Service (EMS) messages described in Section 6, EMS Messages From

7500 Not positioned to the beginning of the tape
7501 A 7-track tape drive cannot be used for BACKUP/RESTORE; must be a 9-
track drive
7502 Bad tape format (bad length for a DP1 tape file label)
7503 Bad tape format (bad section length in DP2 tape file label)
7504 Bad tape format (bad length for a DP2 tape file label)
7505 Bad tape format (end of file encountered where file label or ending volume
label expected)
7506 Checksum error on tape record
7507 Parity error on tape record
7508 Bad tape format (record found that is not a file label or an ending volume
label)
7509 Bad tape format (ending volume label does not match beginning volume
label)
7510 Bad tape format (no files on tape)
7511 Bad tape format (bad continuation indicator for ending volume label)
7512 Bad tape format (bad continuation indicator for beginning volume label)
7513 Bad tape format (end of file encountered where continued data block
expected)
7514 Tape drive does not support density selection
7515 Bad tape format (end of file encountered where beginning volume label
expected)
7516 Cannot read beginning volume label (parity error)
7517 This BACKUP set is not allowed to be more than one tape; rerun with a
larger tape or fewer files
7518 End of tape encountered near the beginning of the tape
7519 Tape verify encountered end of file where beginning or ending volume
label expected
7520 Tape verify encountered ending volume label where a file label was
expected
7521 Tape verify found problem with beginning volume label
