ZPHIRNM Messages
ZPHIRNM issues these types of error and warning messages:
Error Severity Levels
ZPHIRNM issues messages at four severity levels:
Syntax Error Message
When ZPHIRNM detects a syntax error on a RUN ZPHIRNM command, it issues a 
message that details all the syntax options for running ZPHIRNM and the rules for 
using them.
Cause. You specified an incorrect parameter on the RUN ZPHIRNM command.
Effect. ZPHIRNM cannot begin processing.
Recovery. Correct the error using the syntax and instructions shown in the message.
Message Type  Issued When
Syntax error ZPHIRNM encounters a syntax error on a RUN ZPHIRNM 
command.
Term i na tion ZPHIRNM terminates, either successfully or with errors.
General error and 
warning
An error occurs during ZPHIRNM’s renaming of files.
Undo TSV 
processing
An error occurs while ZPHIRNM is attempting to back out target 
subvolume (TSV) changes following a fatal error.
Volume name 
validation messages
An error occurs during ZPHIRNM’s attempt to validate a disk volume.
EMS event 
generation 
messages
An error occurs while ZPHIRNM is attempting to write an Event 
Management Service (EMS) message.
Log file messages An error occurs while ZPHIRNM is attempting to write to a log file.
Level ZPHIRNM Action
informative ZPHIRNM informs you of processing status, such as completion of 
processing for a particular TSV. These messages do not affect processing 
and require no recovery action.
warning ZPHIRNM encountered errors that prevent it from processing the current 
file. ZPHIRNM begins processing the next file on the TSV. 
nonfatal ZPHIRNM stops processing the TSV that generated the error and begins 
processing the next TSV.
fatal ZPHIRNM terminates immediately.
