File Rename Error and Warning Messages
File Rename Error and Warning Messages
ZPHIRNM maintains an internal record of files as they exist under their temporary and
real names. This internal record is kept in these files:
ZPHIRNM uses these files to determine whether or not renaming needs to be done for
a particular file. ZPHIRNM also checks the real and temporary file names on the target
subvolume (TSV). As a result of this check, ZPHIRNM might discover a discrepancy
between its internal view of files and the files as they actually exist on the TSV. In
particular, ZPHIRNM’s data might indicate that a rename is not needed, but the check
of the actual files might indicate otherwise. In these cases, ZPHIRNM cannot
determine whether or not to do a rename.
Correcting Rename Errors
These conditions typically occur when files are added, changed, or purged outside of
DSM/SCM. Recovery from these errors depends on the cause. It generally involves
bringing the TSV back to its unaltered state by manually purging or renaming an extra
or incorrect file, or by manually duplicating the correct file from another source. If you
cannot correct the error, contact your service provider, and provide all relevant
information:
•
Descriptions of the problem and accompanying symptoms
•
Details from the messages generated
•
Supporting documentation such as the $ZPHI Event Management Service (EMS)
logs and trace files (if requested by your service provider)
If your local operating procedures require contacting the Global Customer Support
Center (GCSC), supply your system number and the numbers and versions of all
related products as well.
For messages that include an
error-number
, see the
Guardian Procedure Errors
and Messages Manual
for a description of the particular error.
In any case, when one of these errors occurs, ZPHIRNM stops processing the current
file and prompts you to respond to the error before it continues with the next file on the
TSV. If needed, when ZPHIRNM finishes processing, correct any remaining errors, and
rerun ZPHIRNM. ZHPIRNM then processes only from files that had the errors.
The messages issued during ZPHIRNM’s check of real and temporary file names are:
