Table 17-4. System Generation Information
Parameter Description
CONFTEXT file
name
The default locatio
n where the configuration (CONFTEXT) file is
placed during a Build. The default is $SYSTEM.SYS00.CONFTEXT.
For example:
$SYSTEM.
subvolume.CONFTEXT
Expand CONFTEXT
DEFINE statements
For G-series,
H-series, and J-series RVUs, the DEFINE statements
are optional in the CONFTEXT file. DEFINE statements set up string
variables. The default is to not expand them. Expanding could
speed processing time during system generation but makes the
CONFTEXT file significantly larger. To uncompress the DEFINE
statements in the CONFTEXT file, select the check box for this
option. In most cases, you should leave the check box for this option
cleared.
SYSGEN work file
locations
Use this option to change the default for system generation work
files.
None specified
Temporary
Permanent
The work files are created when a system generation program and
BINDER are processing. By defau
lt, a system generation program
manages the temporary work files it uses. If you do not use the
default, you must specify a location. For example:
None specified
System generation
report location
A spooler location for reports to be printed. The spooler must allow
for 13
2-column forma
tted output. The default is $S.#SYSGEN. If
system generation is required for a Build, check that the spooler is
running. You can override the default locations you specify here
when you request a report. For example:
$S.#SYSGEN
Create optional
system image tape
For Int
egrity NonStop systems, this option is not available, and you
cannot create a SIT.
For NonStop S-series systems, a SIT is not needed in normal
DSM/SCM system installatio
n functions. You can create an optional
SIT as a precaution for disaster recovery, but it is not essential in
most cases. The default is to not create a SIT. In most cases, you
can leave this option unchecked.
