C Running CNFGINFO
This appendix describes using the DSM/SCM Configuration Information (CNFGINFO)
tool to create or modify a product’s A0CINFO or A7INFO file. Use CNFGINFO to define
or modify installation information (file or product attributes) for third-party or customer-
developed software applications for systems to be managed by DSM/SCM. You can
run CNFGINFO from either the Planner Interface or launch it separately from the Start
menu on your PC desktop.
CNFGINFO collects developer-specified or user-specified attributes for a product and
its files, creates one or more records per file of the attributes, and places the records in
a configuration information (A0CINFO) file in the product’s distribution subvolume
(DSV). These attributes are passed to DSM/SCM when the DSV is received into the
archive and stored in the DSM/SCM database. DSM/SCM later uses these attributes to
process the files when it creates a configuration revision to be applied to a target.
When CNFGINFO creates an A0CINFO file, it also creates an A7CINFO file
automatically if the distribution subvolume contains a USTAR format archive file
created with the pax utility, and the corresponding target subvolume is set to
ZOSSUTL. For more information about the pax utility, see the Open System Services
Shell and Utilities Reference Manual. CNFGINFO does not handle A1CINFO files.
Topics discussed in this appendix include:
Preparing to Run CNFGINFO on page C-2
Entering CNFGINFO on page C-3
Exiting CNFGINFO on page C-3
CONFIGINFO Summary on page C-4
Task 1: Start and Log On to CNFGINFO on page C-4
Task 2: Open or Create an A0CINFO File on page C-5
Task 3: Specifying Product or File Information on page C-6
Task 4: Log Off on page C-16
Note. If you do not work with third-party or customer-developed software, you are unlikely to
ever run CNFGINFO.
