DEFINE statements
DEFINE statements. A set of optional statements in the CONFTEXT file that lets you set up
string variables. When system generation runs, it substitutes actual strings for the
variables.
DELIF list. A list of other products which, if they are in a software revision, cause a
particular file in a product to be excluded from the revision. The file is included only if
none of the listed products is in the revision. The DELIF list is an optional part of each
product’s A0CINFO file.
destination. The location where a file will reside on a target system. The destination of a file
depends on its function. Files whose is function is not USER are placed on the target
system when software is applied. Other files are bound into OSIMAGE and placed on
the target SYSnn subvolume during an Apply.
discrepancy report. A DSM/SCM report that shows the difference between the
configuration sent to the target system in the activation package and the configuration
reported in the snapshot at the target system.
document. In DSM/SCM, a softdoc (software document) that describes changes to a
product component, or the release documentation (release highlights, PML) associated
with a specific RVU.
distribution subvolume (DSV). A subvolume containing program files for a particular
software product along with the software release document (softdoc) file for that
product. The format for an HP DSV name is Ynnnnrrr or Rnnnnrrr where nnnn is
the software product number and rrr is the base version identifier (such as G01) or
SPR identifier (such as AAB.)
DSV. See distribution subvolume (DSV).
EMS event messages. The text intended for a system operator that describes a change in
some condition in the system or network, whether minor or serious. The change of
condition is called an event. Events can be operational errors, notifications of limits
exceeded, requests for action needed, and so on.
EMS template files. A set of files containing static text and token IDs that provide for the
substitution of literal values for the tokens to produce meaningful text for display.
 An
Event Management Service (EMS) procedure converts templates written for event
tokens into operator messages in DSM display format.
Event Management Service (EMS). A Distributed Systems Management (DSM) product
that provides event collection, event logging, and event distribution facilities. EMS
provides different event descriptions for interactive and programmatic interfaces, lets
an operator or an application select specific event-message data, and allows for
flexible distribution of event messages within a system or network.
