INITENV Tool
3. Run the INITENV tool:
> RUN INITENV
To use INITENV to change only the host name for a target system:
> RUN INITENV CHANGE-HOST new-host
new-host
is the name of the new host name for the target system.
Configuration Verification
As its last step, INITENV automatically runs STARTSCM (which is required by
VERIFYI), then runs VERIFYI to verify the configuration update. VERIFYI
Checks the INITSTAT file to verify that all setup functions completed successfully
Confirms that all processes required by DSM/SCM are currently running
Reminds you to run the ZPHIHMI and ZPHITMI to initialize the DSM/SCM host and
target databases
If VERIFYI detects INITENV errors, a message is displayed for any step not
completed, and INITENV terminates. For more information on corrective action, see
the message or the INITENV messages in the DSM/SCM Messages Manual.
Although you can run manually to VERIFYI any time after INITENV finishes, it is
usually not necessary. INITENV always runs VERIFYI as it’s last step. To run VERIFYI
manually:
1. Start DSM/SCM. For more information, refer to Starting and Stopping DSM/SCM
on page 2-2.
2. Run VERIFYI. For example:
> RUN VERIFYI
Exiting INITENV
INITENV automatically stops itself after its processing is complete. INITENV does not
perform any actions until you finish its dialog. Therefore, to leave your system
unchanged, press Ctrl-Y to leave INITENV at any time during the INITENV dialog.
Navigating INITENV
INITENV is a command-line interface that prompts you with a series of configuration
questions. The questions vary depending on your responses. Your responses supply
INITENV with the information it needs to perform its configuration tasks. After you
answer all questions, INITENV updates DSM/SCM accordingly. INITENV displays its
progress as it searches for and purges files.
