Planner Tasks
Planner Tasks
The planner has primary responsibility for installing software, but might also oversee
the DSM/SCM responsibilities assigned to others. The planner must thoroughly know
and understand installation procedures and DSM/SCM operations. Most planner-
specific tasks are performed using the Planner Interface. The planner also has
permission to use all DSM/SCM interfaces. You can establish planners without any
permissions, giving them read-only access to a subset of DSM/SCM functions. These
planners can view items such as configurations and inputs but cannot make changes.
In a typical software update, the planner:
Determines the needed product version update (PVU) for all software on a given
target. For example, the planner decides whether the Safeguard T9750 product on
a target should be upgraded to support new functions.
