Operator Tasks
Operator Tasks
An operator can perform tasks only on the assigned target systems. An operator
primarily uses the ZPHITI and might use ZPHIRNM in certain situations. An operator
for a remote system might have more tasks to perform than an operator for a network-
connected system. Acting on instructions received from the planner, the operator
initiates tasks on the target system. Therefore, the operator needs only a minimal
understanding of and experience with software installation procedures and DSM/SCM
operation.
Operator tasks include:
Initiating the application of the activation package received from the host on tape if
the host and target systems are not connected using Expand
Activating the software in the activation package (including running OSM or SCF)
and, if necessary, running ZPHIRNM and performing a system load
Mounting tapes when instructed by EMS messages, TAPECOM, or the ZPHITI
status screen
Monitoring the status of target system tasks
Requesting an independent snapshot of the target system, to send target system
information to the host database if the host and target systems are not connected
using Expand
You can give permission to an operator to perform these functions:
Export Files Export files.
Receive Software Receive software inputs.
Maintain Groups Create and maintain groups.
