ADD TAPELABEL Command
ADD TAPELABEL Command
ZMCS-CMD-ADD (super-group only)
ADD TAPELABEL performs these operations on a tape:
•
Creates a standard ANSI tape label
•
Creates a standard IBM-MVS tape label
•
Creates a tape label used by BACKUP and BACKCOPY
•
Overwrites an existing label with new values (referred to as relabeling a tape)
•
Changes an unexpired labeled tape’s status to SCRATCH
ZMCS-TKN-NEWTAPEVOLUME
is used to overwrite an existing label with a new label containing a new name. To
the user, the tape is relabeled and can be considered an empty (scratch) tape.
When using the ZMCS-TKN-NEWTAPEVOLUME option, you can specify only one
tape name for this command (ZMCS-TKN-TAPEVOLUME). Even though ZMCS-
TKN-TAPEVOLUME is not a cataloged tape, the ZMCS-TKN-NEWTAPEVOLUME
and ZMCS-TKN-TAPEVOLUME names are verified to not exist in the DSM/TC
subsystem before the ADD TAPELABEL command changes the tape’s name.
ZMCS-TKN-TAPEVOLUMEOWNER
defines the owner of the tape. Specify as 1 through 14 characters for ANSI or
BACKUP labeled tapes, or 1 though 10 characters for IBM-MVS labeled tapes.
The text can be composed of any alphanumeric characters and the special
characters permitted for tape file IDs and tape names. It also follows the same
rules regarding double quotation marks, asterisks, and question marks used in
tape file IDs and tape names. For more information on the use of special
characters, see the DSM/Tape Catalog Operator Interface (MEDIACOM) Manual.
