DELETE TAPEVOLUME Command
DELETE TAPEVOLUME Command
ZMCS-CMD-DELETE (super-group only)
DELETE TAPEVOLUME removes the volume catalog and pool entries for a tape with a
status of BAD, RELEASED, or SCRATCH. For example, you must remove these
entries when the tapes they represent are discarded, sent offsite for long-term storage,
or moved to a different pool or volume catalog.
Also use this command if a cataloged tape is going to be changed to an unlabeled
tape. Before the label can be removed, the volume catalog and pool entries of the tape
must be deleted.
To delete an entry for an assigned tape (the tape contains an unexpired file):
1. Use DELETE TAPEFILE to remove the tape file entry.
2. Change the tape status in the volume catalog to RELEASED or SCRATCH.
3. Use DELETE TAPEVOLUME to remove the volume and pool entries.
