An attempt to alter a tape file to valid status failed because a valid version of that

generation already exists.

Cause. You are attempting to alter a version of a tape file to valid status, but a valid

version of that generation already exists.

Effect. No change is made.

Recovery. To make this version of the generation valid, you must delete the current

valid version.

610 ZMCS-ERR-VOLUMENOTALTERED

A tape volume could not be altered because of a reported error.

Cause. Due to an error, you cannot alter the entry for the tape.

Effect. The command does not execute.

Recovery. Analyze the error.
