Cause. The VOLUME attribute must be specified in the TAPECATALOG DEFINE
when writing multifile volume sets (FILESEQ > 1).
Effect. The application request fails with file-system error 594. For more information
on this error, see Section 13, File-System OPEN Errors.
Recovery. The VOLUME attribute must be specified, and the volume specified must
be either the first volume in the volume set or include the last volume used in the
volume set. Retry the request with the corrected DEFINE.
Cause. The FILESEQ attribute specified in the TAPECATALOG DEFINE for the file
identification is incorrect.
Effect. The application request fails with file-system error 594.
Recovery. Correct the FILESEQ attribute and retry the operation, or let DSM/TC
automatically determine the correct FILESEQ by not specifying FILESEQ in the
TAPECATALOG DEFINE.
Cause. A MEDIACOM ALTER TAPEMOUNT request was attempted, but no alternate
copy is available.
Effect. The application continues to request that the original tape volume be mounted.
Recovery. Mount the requested tape volume, or reject the request and st
art the
request over with a different PHYSICAL copy.
Cause. A tape successfully mounted by the tape cartridge is not being detected by the
tape drive. Possible reasons for this error are:
The tape drive is offline.
There is a problem with the data path connection.
The LSM address assigned to the tape drive (using the MEDIACOMM ALTER
TAPEDRIVE command) is the address of a different tape drive.
Effect. The OPEN operation fails, and file-system error 595 is returned.
Recovery. Correct the problem with the tape drive and retry the operation. If the
problem cannot be corrected, use the Subsystem Control Facility (SCF) STOP TAPE
command (G-series) or PUP DOWN command (D-series) on the tape drive to stop the
NonStop operating system from using the tape drive for automated cartridge system
