Cause. An error occurred while the system was trying to send a message to the
Distributed Systems Management/Tape Catalog (DSM/TC) console (using the
MEDIACOM ALTER CONSOLE command).
Effect. The DSM/TC console is automatically closed.
Recovery. To reopen the DSM/TC console, use the MEDIACOM ALTER CONSOLE
command.
Cause. An error occurred while the system was trying to communicate with a tape
drive.
Effect. The tape drive is unavailable for labeled tape use. If a MEDIACOM STATUS
TAPEDRIVE command is performed, it shows the tape drive as being unavailable.
Recovery. Connection to the tape drive is retried automatically:
If the processor is down, reload the primary processor or backup processor of
device.
If the processor is not down, perform a MEDIACOM STATUS TAPEDRIVE
command on the tape drive.
Stop the primary process of $ZSVR.
If the error persists, contact your service provider and give all relevant information:
Description of the problem and accompanying symptoms
Details from the message or messages generated
Supporting documentation such as Event Management Service (EMS) logs, trace
files, and a processor dump, if applicable
If your local operating procedures require contacting the Global Customer Support
Center (GCSC), supply your system number and the numbers and versions of all
related products as well.
