Tape Server Process EMS Message Text
Cause. An application using a tape drive terminated without calling CLOSE. This
message occurs only when processing Distributed Systems Management/Tape
Catalog (DSM/TC) controlled tape volumes.
Effect. ABENDRETENTION is used instead of the normal retention.
Recovery. To change the retention from the ABENDRETENTION value, use the
MEDIACOM ALTER TAPEFILE command.
Cause. The connection to the third-party tape management system (TPTM) failed with
file-system error error.
Effect. This message is displayed if the MEDIADEFS LEVEL value is INTEGRATED,
TPTM, or TPTMCOMPATIBLE and the TPTM process is not running. All labeled tape
requests fail with error 751 until the TPTM process is started.
Recovery. Correct the problem and restart the TPTM process. The problem cannot be
immediately corrected if the MEDIADEFS LEVEL value is INTEGRATED and labeled
tape processing must continue. Set the DSM/TC level to MEDIACAT and continue tape
processing. When the problem is corrected, follow the TPTM instructions for handling
catalog synchronization.
Cause. The MEDIADEFS support level value was changed from an option that
supports a third-party tape management system (TPTM) to an option that does not
support a TPTM.
Effect. The MEDIADEFS support level is not set to an option (INTEGRATED, TPTM,
or TPTMCOMPATIBLE) that supports a TPTM.
Recovery. This is an informative message only; no corrective action is n
eeded.
Cause. The third-party tape management system (TP
TM) disallowed a tape request
because of error.
Effect. The tape request fails with file-system error 751.
Recovery. For recovery information, see the TPTM documentation.
