DELETE TAPEFILE Command (Super Group or
SECURITY-MEDIA-ADMIN Only)
DELETE TAPEFILE Command (Super Group or
SECURITY-MEDIA-ADMIN Only)
DELETE TAPEFILE removes an unexpired tape file entry from a file catalog. The
volume and pool entries associated with the deleted entry are revised if the entry
represented the only valid file on that particular tape except for the last tape. The
volume and pool entries for the last tape and first tape are revised only when all the
tape file entries in the volume set have been deleted (that means, the tape’s status is
changed from assigned to released or scratch.)
tape-file-id
is the tape file ID of the entry to delete from the file catalog. If the entry represents
a file in a multifile tape set, only that entry is marked invalid unless the
VOLUMESET option is used.
Wild-card characters are permitted in this name.
GEN { absolute | ALL }
specifies which generation of the tape file entry to alter:
absolute
deletes one generation only. Absolute is a number in the range 1 through
32767.
ALL
deletes all generations.
FILECAT [ \node.] file-catalog-name
is the logical name of the file catalog that owns the entry to delete. Include \node
when the file catalog is not on your current default node. The default is the name
set by the FILECAT command.
Note. If configured, this command can only be executed by SECURITY-MEDIA-ADMIN group
users. If not, only Super group users can execute this command. For information on
SECURITY-MEDIA-ADMIN group, see the DSM/Tape Catalog User's Guide.
