DELETE TAPEFILE Command (Super Group or
SECURITY-MEDIA-ADMIN Only)
This parameter is required if no value is available from the MEDIADEFS defaults or
previously set as a MEDIACOM session default. (See the ENV Command on
page 2-89.)
LOGICAL { logical | ALL }
refers to which copy of a tape set created from a parallel BACKUP or a parallel
BACKCOPY to delete. (When such tape sets are created, the first copy is
cataloged as logical copy 1, and the second copy as logical copy 2.)
When only one tape set is created by the Backup utility (T9074) or BACKCOPY, it
is cataloged as logical copy 1.
This option specifies which logical copy is associated with tape-file-id:
logical
deletes the tape file entry for logical copy 1 or logical copy 2. Specify logical
as 1 or 2. The default is 1.
BOTH
deletes the tape file entries for logical copy 1 and logical copy 2.
PHYSICAL { physical | ALL }
refers to the sequential order in which backup tape sets were created by the
BACKUP and BACKCOPY.
Two identical tape sets created by a parallel BACKUP or a parallel BACKCOPY
have the same physical copy number but different logical copy numbers (1 and 2).
This option specifies which physical copy is associated with tape-file-id:
physical
deletes the tape file entry based on a physical copy number. Specify
physical as a number in the range 1 through 99. The default is 1.
If physical refers to a pair of tape sets from a parallel BACKUP or parallel
BACKCOPY, only logical copy 1 of the pair is deleted unless you use the
LOGICAL option with the PHYSICAL option.
ALL
deletes the tape file entries for all physical copies. If there are pairs of tape sets
from a parallel BACKUP or parallel BACKCOPY, only logical copy 1 of the pair
is deleted if you do not use LOGICAL ALL with PHYSICAL ALL.
VOLUMESET
deletes all entries for the files on the tape set. When using this option, specify any
of the unexpired files for tape-file-id. Be careful when using VOLUMESET
