FILECAT Command
replacement-string
is any subcommand that does not begin R, I, or D (r, i, or d). Characters in
replacement-string replace the characters directly above them in the
command line on a one-for-one basis.
To execute the modified command displayed by FC, press RETURN at the first
character position on the command editing line.
Considerations
To stop FC, enter only the subcommand separator (//) on the new blank line, and then
immediately press RETURN. The (possibly altered) command line is discarded without
execution. You can also press CTRL/Y to stop the FC command.
Examples
This FC command retrieves command line number 6. Then the I subcommand is
used to change the displayed command.
MC> FC 6
MC> ADD POOL ANSI_TAPES, VOLCAT SY_CAT, LABELS ANSI
. iSTEM
MC> ADD POOL ANSI_TAPES, VOLCAT SYSTEM_CAT, LABELS ANSI
This FC command retrieves the last command in the history buffer. The implied
replacement string subcommand is used to change the displayed command.
MC> FC
MC> ADD POOL ANSI_TAPES, VOLCAT SYSTEM_CAT, LABELS ANSI
. ACCT
MC> ADD POOL ACCT_TAPES, VOLCAT SYSTEM_CAT, LABELS ANSI
This FC command retrieves the last command in the history buffer that begins with
ADD. The implied replacement string subcommand, the D subcommand, and the R
subcommand are used to change the displayed command.
MC> FC ADD
MC> ADD POOL ACCT_TAPES, VOLCAT SYSTEM_CAT, LABELS ANSI
. OPER// iDENSITY 6250,// ddddddddddddd
MC> ADD POOL OPER_TAPES, DENSITY 6250, VOLCAT SYSTEM_CAT
This FC command retrieves the last command in the history buffer that contains
the character string STAR:
MC> FC "STAR"
MC> INFO FILECAT \STAR.*
FILECAT Command
Some MEDIACOM commands need a file catalog name even though the commands’
FILECAT option is not required. When a FILECAT option is not used, those commands
use a default name.
