HELP Command
HELP displays information on your home terminal about MEDIACOM command names
and their syntax.
HELP
entered with no command name or syntax name, lists all the MEDIACOM
command names. No syntax is displayed. This is the same as entering HELP * or
HELP ALL.
command-name
is the entire command name or the first or second word of the command’s name.
When the entire name is given, such as INFO CONSOLE, the command and its
syntax is displayed. If only one word in the name is given, such as INFO, all
commands containing that word are displayed, but without syntax.
The command-name can also be a TAPECOM command name. When you give a
TAPECOM name, HELP returns the equivalent MEDIACOM command and syntax
except for the CONSOLE, LABEL, and STATUS commands.
In the case of those commands, a listing of commands is displayed with the
TAPECOM command surrounded by < and > characters. To display the equivalent
syntax for the TAPECOM command, enter HELP again with the command name
surrounded by the < and > characters.
<syntax>
is a variable item in the command’s syntax that you want help with. The < and >
characters are required around the variable name.
