LABEL TAPEVOLUME Command
(Super Group Only)
The tape is cataloged only if it satisfies all the pool’s attributes, and the tape name is
not duplicated in the system search space.
tape-name
is the name of the tape that is written in the tape label. BACKUP and BACKCOPY
accept numbers and letters only for a tape name and do not accept special
characters. For more information, see Tape Names on page 1-9.
When labeling a large number of tapes with the same tape label format and label
information, you can give multiple tape names rather than entering LABEL
TAPEVOLUME for each tape. A maximum of 100 names is permitted.
Use the COUNT option if you are labeling a large number of tapes with the same
attributes that have sequentially numbered names.
POOL pool-name
is the logical name of the pool in which to catalog tape-name.
VOLCAT \node.volume-catalog-name
is the logical name of the volume catalog that owns the pool. Include \node when
the volume catalog is not on your current default node.
COUNT number-of-tapes
defines how many tapes are being labeled when the tape names are automatically
generated by LABEL TAPEVOLUME. number-of-tapes is a number in the
range of 1 through 100.
This option is intended for labeling a large quantity of tapes with consecutive
names. Specify one tape-name that is composed of all numbers or ends in a
number, such as TAP001. After the first tape is labeled with tape-name, it is
incremented by 1 for the second tape label and so on.
