OPEN SERVER Command
When FC is entered after executing a command file, FC displays the OBEY
command, not the last command executed in the command file.
Example
A disk file named \SKY.$SYS.OPER.DEFS contains these commands:
INFO MEDIADEFS \SKY
INFO MEDIADEFS \SEA
INFO MEDIADEFS \STAR
To execute the commands in DEFS during a MEDIACOM session on \SKY, enter:
MC> OBEY $SYS.DEFS
The volume name $SYS is included because it is not the default volume name for the
session. \SKY is the default node name, and OPER is the default subvolume name for
the session.
OPEN SERVER Command
MEDIACOM automatically opens a MEDIASRV server process whenever it needs to.
One server process accommodates ten MEDIACOM users at a time. If you want a
MEDIASRV process dedicated to your session, use OPEN SERVER.
Use the STATUS SERVER command to show the attributes of the currently opened
server.
$server-name
is the name to give the MEDIASRV process. It is 1 through 5 alphanumeric
characters. The first character after $ must be alphabetic.
There is no default server name for this command. If you do not supply a name,
the command does not execute.
CPU cpu-number
is the number of the processor that $server-name runs in. Specify cpu-number
as a number in the range 0 through 15. The default is the processor where
MEDIACOM is running.
