RECOVER DISKFILE Command
catalogs and determines that the entry in OPS_CATALOG is the most current one
because it does not recognize there is a more recent entry in GEN_ACCT_CAT.
Using a volume-mode backup tape set with RECOVER DISKFILE
Recovering information from a volume-mode backup tape set is more complicated
than copying specific files from a file-mode backup tape. You must make certain
preparations to the target disk before you allow RECOVER DISKFILE to actually
copy the data from tape to disk. For preparation guidelines, see the Guardian Disk
and Tape Utilities Reference Manual.
RECOVER DISKFILE cannot verify that you prepared the disk, but it does display
a warning message when OVERRIDE OFF is used with the command. You can let
RECOVER DISKFILE proceed after the warning message if you have prepared the
disk or cancel the command if you did not prepare the disk.
If an error occurs when processing a Backup and Restore 2.0 RESTORE
command after launching BRCOM from MEDIACOM, you will have to type EXIT to
return to MEDIACOM. MEDIACOM will still print recover diskfile
completed even if the operation was unsuccessful.
Unless you specify LISTALL/LISTONLY ON/DETAIL, the Backup and Restore 2.0
RESTORE command will return as soon as the job is started.
Use EMS events and the BRCOM STATUS JOB and INFO JOB commands to
monitor progress of a Backup and Restore 2.0 RESTORE operation. For more
information, see the Backup and Restore 2.0 Manual.
