A Tape Label Formats
A labeled tape contains records at the beginning of the tape that identify the tape and
the files on the tape. DSM/TC can handle ANSI and IBM-MVS standard labeled tapes.
ANSI Standard Labels
An initialized ANSI tape, as defined in the ANSI standard, contains:
A beginning-of-volume label (VOL1)
A beginning-of-file-section label group (HDR1, HDR2)
Two tape marks
An end-of-file label group (EOF1, EOF2)
Two tape marks
Beginning-of-Volume Label
The word Spaces in the Content column indicates fields that HP does not support.
