IBM-MVS Standard Labels
IBM-MVS Standard Labels
An initialized IBM tape, as defined by the IBM-MVS standard, contains:
A beginning-of-volume label (VOL1)
A beginning-of-file-section label (HDR1)
A tape mark
Once data is written to the tape, a second beginning-of-file-section label, HDR2,
follows the HDR1 label.
Beginning-of-Volume Label
The word Spaces in the Content column indicates fields that HP does not support.
