Common Language Elements
Many syntax elements in the MEDIACOM command language are common to several
commands:
The syntax for many MEDIACOM language elements is the same as for other NonStop
Kernel command languages.
Device Names
A device name, referred to as $device in command syntax, is the name that identifies
a peripheral on a node, such as a terminal or printer. It begins with $, followed by 1 to 6
alphanumeric characters. The first character after $ must be alphabetic.

Disk File Names
A disk file, referred to as disk-file-name in command syntax, identifies a disk file
copied to a tape by BACKUP or BACKCOPY. The name consists of these elements:
\node
is the name of a NonStop Kernel system. It begins with a \ character, followed by 1
through 7 alphanumeric characters. The first character after \ must be alphabetic. If
a node name is not given, the current default node is used.
