Managing Tapes and Pools
Use the commands in Table 2-6 to manage tapes cataloged in the DSM/TC system.
Managing Tape Labels
Use the commands in Table 2-7 for tapes and cartridges not cataloged in the DSM/TC
system, or to manage the tape labels of cataloged tapes.
Table 2-6. Tape and Pool Commands
Command Purpose
*ADD POOL Creates a new pool in a volume catalog
*ADD TAPEVOLUME Catalogs one or more tapes in a pool and volume catalog
*ALTER POOL Changes one or more attributes of an existing pool
*ALTER TAPEVOLUME Changes the STATUS or MEDIA TYPE of a tape in the
volume catalog
*DELETE POOL Removes a pool once it is empty
*DELETE TAPEVOLUME Removes a tape entry from a volume catalog if the tape’s
status is bad, released, or scratch
INFO POOL Retrieves attributes of a pool
INFO TAPEVOLUME Retrieves attributes of a tape and any files written to it
*LABEL TAPEVOLUME Physically labels and catalogs one or more tapes in a pool
and volume catalog
* Only a super-group user can execute this command.

*ADD TAPELABEL Creates or changes a tape label; or creates a replacement for
a damaged cataloged tape
*DELETE TAPELABEL Removes a standard label from a labeled tape
*INFO TAPELABEL Identifies and displays a tape’s label
