the tape’s label. When tape-file-id is not given, the file name in the tape’s
label is used for the catalog entry.
You must specify tape-file-id when there is no tape file-ID in the tape label.
For more information, see Considerations on page 2-19.
MODE { BACKFILE | BACKVOLUME | USER }
specifies the origin of the tape file:
BACKFILE
The tape file was created by BACKUP in file mode or copied by BACKCOPY
from a file-mode backup tape set. Only the tape file name of the backup tape is
cataloged. None of the disk files copied to the tape are cataloged.
BACKVOLUME
The tape file was created by BACKUP in volume mode or copied by
BACKCOPY from a volume-mode backup tape set. Only the tape file name of
the backup tape is cataloged. None of the disk files copied to the tape are
cataloged.
USER
The tape file was created by a process other than BACKUP or BACKCOPY.
COMMENT comment-text
is descriptive text for tape-file-id that is stored in the tape file entry. It can be
1 through 80 characters long, composed of any alphanumeric characters and
special characters permitted for tape file-IDs and tape names. It also follows the
same rules regarding double quotation marks, asterisks, and question marks used
in tape file-IDs and tape names. For more information, see Section 1, Using
MEDIACOM.
A comment usually originates from a TAPECATALOG DEFINE, but for manual
cataloging, this option provides a way to add a comment to the entry.
EXPIRATION date
is the new expiration date for the entry. When this option is not used, the expiration
date in the tape label is used. For more information, see Considerations on
page 2-19.
