ADD TAPELABEL Command (Super Group Only)
Press the RETURN key to start the polling process. When the tape is mounted,
ADD TAPELABEL continues processing. The default is ON.
To end ADD TAPELABEL without further processing, you can enter stop rather
than press the RETURN key.
OFF
Polling is performed immediately by the tape drive. This message is sent to the
current default output file (usually your home terminal):
\node.$tape: not ready -- beginning to poll ...
When the tape is mounted, ADD TAPELABEL continues processing.
TAPEDRIVE \node.$tape
is a tape drive name. Include \node when the tape drive is not on your current
default node. The default is the name set by the TAPEDRIVE command. If this
option is not used and a default name is not set, the command does not execute.
This parameter is required if no value is available from the MEDIADEFS defaults or
previously set as a MEDIACOM session default (see the ENV Command on
page 2-89).
UNLOAD { ON | OFF }
determines what happens to the tape after ADD TAPELABEL is finished:
ON
unloads the tape from the tape drive. The default is ON.
OFF
leaves the tape mounted and online.
Considerations

Four conditions must be met in order for autolabeling to work:
1. The tape volume must have the correct external label and reside in the tape
library. When the label command is specified, use the external name of the
tape volume to generate the matching internal label.
2. A tape library tape drive must be specified. For information on configuring a
tape drive as a tape library drive, see the ALTER TAPEDRIVE Command
(Super Group Only) on page 2-53.
3. A tape volume should not be premounted on the specified tape drive. If a tape
is premounted, that tape is labeled and unloaded, possibly resulting in a
mismatched external and internal label.
4. The OVERRIDE ON option must be set.
