3. To label two IBM tape volumes:
MC> ADD TAPELABEL (IBM001, IBM002),&
>>> TAPEDRIVE $TAPE0,&
>>> OVERRIDE ON,&
>>> LABELS IBM
TAPE VOLUME IBM001 INITIALIZED
TAPE VOLUME IBM002 INITIALIZED
4. To label a BACKUP tape volume:
MC> ADD TAPELABEL BACK01,&
>>> TAPEDRIVE $TAPE0,&
>>> OVERRIDE ON,&
>>> LABELS BACKUP
TAPE VOLUME BACK01 INITIALIZED
5. To scratch a tape volume labeled BACK01 and leave it online:
MC> ADD TAPELABEL BACK01,&
>>> TAPEDRIVE $TAPE0,&
>>> SCRATCH,&
>>> UNLOAD OFF
TAPE VOLUME BACK01 SCRATCHED
6. To give an unlabeled tape an IBM-MVS label with a density of 6250 bpi and the
name AA0004:
MC> ADD TAPELABEL AA0004,&
>>> TAPEDRIVE $TD001,&
>>> DENSITY 6250,&
>>> LABELS IBM
7. This example changes the name of the labeled scratch tape ABC033 to XYZ001.
ABC033 is mounted on the default tape drive for the session.
MC> ADD TAPELABEL ABC033,&
>>> LABELS IBM,&
>>> NEWNAME XYZ001
If a tape is already cataloged as ABC033 or XYZ001, the command fails.
Note. You cannot use the OVERRIDE option with the SCRATCH option.
