Considerations
Density conflict when writing a tape
The density of all tapes in a pool must agree with the pool’s density if the pool has
been assigned a density other than ANY. If the DENSITY value of an ADD
TAPEVOLUME command does not agree with the assigned density of the pool, the
tape is not added to the pool.
You use the tape’s density when writing data to it. If you specify a different density
in a TAPECATALOG DEFINE than the density of the tape, no data is written on the
tape, and an error is sent to the tape console and the application.
