ALTER CONSOLE Command (Super Group Only)
If you use this command without any options, the current device (the device from which
you are running MEDIACOM and this command) becomes the console.
\node
is the name of a node other than the current default node. When not given, your
current default node is used.
DEVICE [\node.]$device
defines the device to be the console. Include \node when the device is not on
your current default node.
RESET DEVICE
removes the current console device from console mode.
Considerations
A terminal used as the tape console is not dedicated solely to tape messages. Other
prompts and information sent to the terminal still display between tape messages.
To dedicate the terminal only to tape messages, enter a PAUSE command after the
terminal is in console mode. Press the BREAK key at any time to return to non-
dedicated mode.
Examples
This example assigns $OPS as the console device on \SKY, the current default
node (\SKY does not have a tape console):
MC> ALTER CONSOLE, DEVICE $OPS
1 console altered.
This example changes the current tape console on \SEA to a different device. (You
must reset before reassignment can take place. The command is issued from
\SKY.)
MC> ALTER CONSOLE \SEA, RESET DEVICE
1 console altered.
MC> ALTER CONSOLE \SEA, DEVICE \SEA.$TERM2
1 console altered.
