ALTER TAPEFILE Command (Super Group or
SECURITY-MEDIA-ADMIN Only)
number-of-days
is a number in the range 1 through 9999.
PERMANENT
keeps the entry until its retention period is changed again with ALTER
TAPEFILE or the entry is manually erased with DELETE TAPEFILE.
You cannot use the EXPIRATION option with RETENTION.
STATUS VALID
changes the entry’s status from invalid to valid as long as one other file on the tape
set has a valid entry. Only one entry at a time can have its status changed. (You
cannot use wild-card characters in tape-file-id with STATUS.)
If the invalid entry was marked invalid because it expired, use the EXPIRATION or
RETENTION option with STATUS to give the restored entry a new expiration date.
For more information, see Considerations on page 2-60.

When STATUS is used with the GEN, PHYSICAL, or LOGICAL options, ALL
cannot be used for them.
The VOLUMESET option cannot be used with STATUS.
VERSION version
specifies which version of a generation to change from invalid to valid. Specify
version as a number in the range 0 through 100.
VERSION is used only with STATUS VALID and is required when that option is
used.
VOLUMESET
changes the expiration date or retention period specified in the EXPIRATION or
RETENTION option for all unexpired entries of the file on the tape set. When using
this option, specify any of the unexpired files for tape-file-id.
