ALTER TAPEMOUNT Command
(Super Group Only)
Sometimes a tape requested by a TAPECATALOG DEFINE is not available at the time
the mount message is issued. Perhaps the tape is misplaced, damaged, or on loan to
another group.
If the unavailable tape has an alternate copy, you can use ALTER TAPEMOUNT to
determine the proper tape to mount and issue a new mount message for it. The
command applies to these situations:
You want to use a copy of an input tape for a RECOVER DISKFILE or TMF
operation when the original tape requested is unavailable.
You want to use the next scratch tape that can satisfy a request for an output tape
when the original scratch tape requested for BACKUP, BACKCOPY, TMF, or an
application is unavailable.
ALTER TAPEMOUNT cannot be used:
When a tape is requested by a TAPECATALOG DEFINE with the CATALOG
attribute set to OFF
When a tape is requested by a TAPE DEFINE
