PCT Color Mapping
The Modify Field Order (MF) uses the same subfield structure as SFE. The subfields are
used to update the characteristics of an already existing field rather than create a new
field as does SFE.
PCT Color Support
PCT version C00 implemented 32-color support using the 5 bits of the video attribute
byte of the SF and SFE 6530 field definition commands. The format of the video
attribute byte is described in Figure E-1.
Using the PCT configuration program or an editor, create or modify the PCT. INI file.
The color^mapping^table entry contains 32 hex-pair values that define the colors to be
displayed for each of the 32 values of the 5 video bits taken together. See the PCT6530
User’s Guide for more information on configuring PCT for a color environment.
Base Color-Support Mapping
In the case of an SF order, the EM3270 emulator would call the user base color-support
mapping routine. The routine returns whatever video attribute the user assigns. Figure
E-2 illustrates the default base color-support mapping procedure.

Note. While 32 colors are possible, the 16 that have the blank bit turned on will not display
characters in the field having this video attribute. This effectively reduces the useful number of
colors to 16.
