About This Manual
Section 2: Keyboard Mapping. This section describes the function-key conversions
that take place when a terminal is running an EM3270 process, the EM3270
template for use when you are connected to an IBM host, and the keycap labels for
control keys on the keyboard.
Section 3: Basic and Advanced Sessions With EM3270. This section describes
how to run EM3270 to access IBM and Tandem host applications in interactive and
noninteractive modes. The examples provided include a stand-alone interactive
session, a session involving a central operator terminal and a separate user terminal,
an example that uses a command file to configure the emulator and terminals, and
examples for configuring and using the EM3270 Kanji support.
Section 4: EM3270 Emulator Command Set. This section identifies the EM3270
command set and explains the use of each command. This section also identifies the
specific messages associated with each command.
Section 5: Problem Solving. This section describes basic problem-solving
procedures for an EM3270 environment.
Appendix A: EM3270 Emulation Description. This appendix describes the 3270
terminal features supported by Tandem terminals. It also describes the data-stream
translation performed by EM3270 during IBM host to Tandem terminal transfers,
Tandem terminal to IBM host transfers, and IBM host to Tandem printer transfers.
Appendix B: EM3270 Emulation With a Kanji Host. This appendix describes the
3270 and 66xx Kanji terminal features supported by Japanese personal computers
with Japanese PCs with Tandem’s Japanese PCT emulator. It also describes the data-
stream translation performed by the EM3270 emulator during IBM/Fujitsu host to
Tandem terminal (Japanese PC with PCT-J emulator) or IBM/Fujitsu Kanji terminal
sessions, Tandem terminal (Japanese PC with PCT-J emulator) or IBM/Fujitsu Kanji
terminal to IBM/Fujitsu host sessions, and IBM/Fujitsu host to Tandem Kanji printer
sessions.
Appendix C: Transliteration Option. This appendix describes the standard ASCII-
to-ASCII conversion optionally provided by EM3270 and explains how to
implement a different scheme when using character sets other than US-ASCII.
Appendix D: EMCOM Messages. This appendix provides a listing of EM3270
messages and their meanings.
Appendix E: Color-Mapping and Function-Key Mapping. This appendix
describes the default function-key mapping performed by the EM3270 product and
the procedure for modifying the function-key mapping. Also described is the
procedure for modifying the color-mapping procedure.
Appendix F: BIND Values. This appendix lists values accepted in a BIND.
Appendix G: Data-Stream Switching. This appendix describes the data-stream
switching method and shows an example data-stream inspection procedure.
Appendix H: EM3270 Emulator Fault Numbers. This appendix lists the EM3270
fault numbers.
