BIND Values
This appendix lists, in Table F-1, acceptable values for a BIND RU received from a host
application.
Table F-1. Values Accepted in a BIND
Byte Bit Value
Byte 1 01 (Nonnegotiable BIND).
Byte 2 03 (FM profile 3).
Byte 3 03 (TS profile 3).
Byte 4 Bit 1 0 (request control mode selection - immediate).
Byte 4 Bits 2:3 Nonzero value (chain response protocol).
Byte 4 Bit 6 0 (no compression from primary).
Byte 4 Bit 7 1 (end bracket indicator - primary may send EB).
Byte 5 Bit 0 1 (multiple-RU chains allowed from secondary) Note: This only
applies if the EM3270 device is a terminal.
Byte 5 Bits 2:3 Non-zero value (chain response protocol).
Byte 6 Bits 1:3 3 (FM headers not allowed; brackets are used; bracket termination rule
1).
Byte 7 Bits 0:3 8 (half-duplex flip-flop, contention loser responsible for recovery, and
secondary is contention winner).
Byte 10 Maximum RU size from secondary must be greater than 64. If a value
greater than 2048 is specified, 2048 will be used. (Note: This value is
calculated from the RU table in the SNA Reference Summary).
Byte 14 If the device is a CRT then the value must be 2. If the device is a
printer then the value can be either 1 or 3.
Byte 20 Must be less than 24 (default buffer size in rows).
Byte 21 Must be less than 80 (default buffer size in columns).
Byte 22 Must be less than 43 (alternate buffer size in rows).
Byte 23 Must be less than 132 (alternate buffer size in columns).
