High-PIN Support by EM3270 and EMCOM
Within a D-Series Operating System
Processes running on a D-series system on either a high or low PIN can access D-series
EM3270 and EMCOM running on a D-series system on either a high or low PIN.
D-series System to C-Series System
D-series EM3270 and EMCOM running at low PIN on a D-series system can access a
process running on a C-series system.
D-series EM3270 and EMCOM running on a high PIN cannot access a process running
on a C-series system.
C-Series System to D-Series System
A process running on a C-series system can access D-series EM3270 that is running at a
low PIN.
A process running on a C-series system cannot access D-series EM3270 that is running
at a high PIN.
B-Series Systems
A process running on a B-series system cannot communicate with a D-series EM3270
running on a D-series system.
A process running on a B-series system cannot communicate with processes on a
C-series system that is in the same network as a D-series system.
High-PIN Support by EM3270 and EMCOM
In D-series EMCOM, the START PROCESS command can create and open processes
that run at high PINs. The maximum value for a PIN is 65535 on the D-series system.
(On the C-series software the maximum PIN value is 255.)
The field length for a PIN on D-series software is five digits. (On the C-series software
the field length is three digits.)
