SNA
NonStop Kernel. The Tandem operating system.
OBEY file. A file that serves as a source for command input.
PA keys. Program attention keys. 3270 keys used to request program action.
PATHCOM. The command interpreter that serves as the user interface to the Pathway
application environment.
PATHMON. Pathway monitor process.
Pathway. A transaction processing system that supplies the programs, procedures, and
structures necessary to produce user-written applications.
PCT. Personal computer with Tandems 6530 emulation package that operates on an IBM PC
and compatible devices.
PF keys. Program function keys. 3270 keys used to request program action (usually reading
data from the terminal). When a function key is pressed on a Tandem terminal, the AID
code for the associated key and a data buffer from the terminal are transmitted to the
host system.
PTR protocol. A high-level 3270 protocol used by SNAX/XF to support line-at-a-time
communications with certain SNA-type printers.
RSIZE. Record size.
RU. Request or response unit.
SBCS. Single-Byte Character Set.
SCF. Subsystem Control Facility.
SCOBOL. Screen COBOL, part of the Pathway product.
SCS. SNA character set.
SDLC. Synchronous data link control. A line protocol developed by IBM Corporation that is
used throughout the industry as a de facto standard for bit synchronous data
communications.
SFE. Start Field Extended Order.
SFE. Start Filed Extended Order.
SNA. Systems Network Architecture. A network of communications hardware and software
components developed around the 3270 display system.
