SNAX/CDF. Systems Network Architecture (SNA) Communications Services/Cross domain
facility. A Tandem software product that serves as a gateway between Tandem systems
and SNA products.
SNAX/XF. Systems Network Architecture (SNA) Communications Services/Extended
Functions. A Tandem software product that serves as a gateway between Tandem
systems and SNA products.
SPI. Subsystem Programmatic Interface.
SPOOLCOM. Spooler command interpreter.
Spooler. A set of programs that provides an interface between terminal users, application
programs, and the system print devices. The spooler receives print data from an
application program, stores the data on disk until the requested print device is available,
and then routes the data to the printer.
SSCP. System services control point in an SNA network.
SSINIT. Subsystem initialization procedure for SPI.
SU. Subdevice unit.
SYSGEN. NonStop Kernel system generation program.
TACL. Tandem Advanced Command Language.
TAL. Transaction Application Language. A Tandem programming language used to write
systems software and routines that support transaction-oriented applications.
TCB. Task Control Block.
TCP. Terminal Control Process.
TMDS. Tandem Maintenance and Diagnostic Subsystem.
TPR. Tandem product report.
TR3271. A high-level I/O process that allows a Tandem system to connect to IBM hosts as a
3270 controller and associated devices. It is commonly used as a programmatic response
to IMS or CIS terminal-destined screen messages.
Transliteration. To represent letters or words in the characters of another alphabet.
TSO. IBM host subsystem.
TSS. A Fujitsu host subsystem.
Vol ume. A physical disk pack mounted on a disk drive.
