Tandem Application Requirements
A Tandem application that accesses the EM3270 emulator terminal must meet the
following conditions:
It must be a block-mode application.
It must not require more than seven-page buffers.
It must not require control of the BREAK key.
See the bulleted item “Tandem/IBM host application switching” under “Emulator
Features” earlier in this section for more information.
When you issue an EMCOM STOP PROCESS command, the EM3270 emulator waits
for completion of the logoff protocol and then closes TR3271, SNAX/XF, or
SNAX/CDF. The EM3270 emulator waits to be closed by the Tandem application, then
closes the terminal file. It does not accept any new OPEN requests from Tandem
applications. If you initiated the session by an EMCOM RUN command, the emulator
issues a reply to the EMCOM interpreter as the last step in the stop sequence.
Single-Application Session
Alternatively, you can configure the EM3270 emulator for a single session between the
Tandem, IBM, or Fujitsu terminal and an IBM application. The same function-key
mapping is provided, but the capability of switching to a Tandem application is not
enabled. Figure 1-4 shows this configuration.
At termination of the single session, the emulator waits for completion of the logoff
protocol and closes TR3271, SNAX/XF, SNAX/APN, or SNAX/CDF. Next, the
EM3270 emulator closes the terminal file and issues a reply to the EMCOM interpreter
(when you initiate the session by an EMCOM RUN command).
