To display a selection menu that shows the available applications on a 6530 terminal,
press the shifted ROLL UP key. To select an application, press the function key
associated with it.
Data transferred between the EM3270 emulator and the access method is in ASCII
format.
Printer Session
A printer session, shown in Figure 1-5, allows you to print files from an IBM host
application to Tandem system printers, including a printer connected to a terminal. In a
printer session, the EM3270 emulator provides emulation of IBM 328x printers. In an
SNA environment, the printer can be either an LU type 1 or type 3 device. The printer
LU1 must be defined to SNAX/XF as TYPE (14,0) using SCF.
The emulator maps forms-control sequences and de-blocks print data. It prints records
directly by writing to the printer or indirectly by writing to the spooler. When using the
spooler, the emulator opens and closes the spooler for each logical print file received
from the IBM host. You use EMCOM configuration commands to map terminal
addresses to Tandem printers.
The emulator supports two methods for determining the end of a logical print file: a
timeout and an explicit end-of-file character sequence. You can select either or both
Note. For TR3271 or SNAX/XF, you must use the correct TRANSLATE and EBCDIC/ASCII
(Extended Binary-Coded Decimal Interchange Code and American National Standard Code for
Information interchange) parameters for SYSGEN and SCF to specify the appropriate
translation by the access method or the communications controller.
For SNAX/CDF, you must use the CHARACTERSET (EBCDIC or ASCII) parameter of the
APPL statement in SCF (or via the Subsystem Programmatic Interface).
Note. The Tandem printer used in a printer session must have enough print positions for the
longest line to be printed without truncation.
